Arrrr, You Ready For Another Great Week?

 

We had a great first week of school. We learned so much about why it is so important to be a good listener and a great friend. We also took a walk around the school to look for "Pete the Cat". We found him all over the school! We learned our first 3 sight words and completed our first kindergarten assessment. I am so proud of each of my new friends. They have been "Super Stars" all week. Please visit our blog often. I will be posting pictures. 

We have had a great day and can't wait to come back tomorrow!

Arrrr, You Ready For Your 1st Day of 5K?

Here we go friend's! Tomorrow is our first day of Kindergarten. I am so excited and I can't wait to see everyone in the morning. Please remember to send a snack. We will be doing lots of fun things tomorrow. Get lots of rest tonight and don't forget to read your special book.

Ready For Kindergarten!

 

I am so excited to get started on our learning adventure together this year in Kindergarten. I can't wait to meet each of my new friends. We are going to have a great year of wonder.

  

My name is Kristin Baird. I have a wonderful husband (Aaron) and 3 amazing children (Morgan 9, Austin 7 and Baylor 4). I have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I love teaching and watching young minds explore and learn. This will be my 10th year teaching. This will be my first year at Oakland Elementary and I am very excited. I am from Tennessee, but we have lived here in South Carolina for almost 4 years. I enjoy going to church, spending time with my family and cheering on the Tennessee Vols.

 

This year we will be learning and exploring a lot of fun things. Here at Oakland and in our classroom we do a lot of activities that include Project Based Learning. This is a really awesome way for the kids to get involved with their own learning and includes lots of hands on fun.

If you have already purchased school supplies please bring them with you to "Meet the Teacher". Below you will find a list of the supplies you will need for kindergarten this year.

2 marble wide ruled composition books

2 spiral wide ruled notebooks

Tote Bag

Please write your child's name on the items in bold. We place them in the correct baskets, so they will be ready for the first day of school.

 

If possible it would be a tremendous help to our class if you could also send some of these optional items.
